Patterson | Kilmarnock, VA
Set along the peaceful banks of the river in Kilmarnock, Virginia, the Patterson Home holds deep personal meaning. The project was originally envisioned by the client’s father, who dreamed of creating a place where family and friends could gather and feel connected to the water and to one another. When designing the home, we wanted to honor his vision while creating something that reflected both his life and the family’s story.
We thoughtfully incorporated many of his personal pieces, including artwork he painted himself, well-loved books, and family heirlooms. Each item became a touchpoint, grounding the new spaces in memory and character. By blending antique elements with fresh textures and refined details, we created a sense of continuity and warmth that feels both timeless and personal.
From the light-filled kitchen to the relaxed living spaces and the breezy screened porch overlooking the river, every room was designed to feel comfortable, connected, and full of meaning. The Patterson Home is not only a reflection of place, but also a lasting tribute to a life well-lived and a family legacy carried forward through design.
